What is Morganite?

A stone being extensively used in jewellery on shopping channels, Morganite is a good hard stone rated between 7.5 and 8 on the Moh's scale.

It is a pink beryl and as such is quite attractive and sought after. However beryls are sensitive to high temperatures and rapid temperature changes. This is one of the factors that count against their use in jewellery making since soldering close to the stone can lead to discolouration. For the same reason It is not advisable to clean morganite in an ultrasonic tank.

Morganite is named after J. P. Morgan, a famous American financier.
